Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all purpose flour 130 g
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted 113 g
  • ½ cup sugar 100 g
  • 1 large egg yolk room temperature
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter and allow to cool.
    ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Add sugar and vanilla and whisk well, about 1 minute.
    ½ cup sugar, 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • Add egg yolk and whisk until well combined.

  • In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda and fine sea salt. Whisk until well dispersed.

  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
  • Whisk until just combined.
  • Add chocolate morsels and fold into batter.
    ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • Use 2 tablespoon scoop to scoop dough and place on baking sheet.
  • Refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Bake for 13 minutes, or until edges are browned and beginning to crisp. Remove from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet.

Notes

Use Kitchen Scale. The greatest advantage you can give yourself when baking is using a kitchen scale.
Room Temperature Ingredients. Make sure your egg is at room temperature before you begin.
Refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes before baking. This will help solidify the butter a bit before baking to minimize the amount of spread.
