I am a recipe developer, photographer and dessert lover - and here at The Dessert Pantry I share all things dessert with you!
Let's Take It From The Top
Baking was never a part of my life growing up. My mom and dad met in Los Angeles in the early 70s, having traveled from Mexico (Mom) and El Salvador (Dad) to pursue a better life. Fast forward a few years (and a few kids!) and my parents were working heavy hours to be able to provide the best life they could for their children.
Fast forward a few years and I am in college full time, in my late twenties with my own daughter and husband at home...while still working a full-time job. I had a lot of anxiety and stress at the time, and one day I decided to bake some cookies since I needed a break from the textbook. I graduated CSUF in 2015 with a Bachelor's of Art in Political Science, but soon found myself with quite a bit of extra time...and the desire to continue baking! I launched The Dessert Pantry on Instagram in the Fall of 2015 and have been growing, learning and sharing all things dessert ever since.
Colorful And Creative Adventures
The first few years of The Dessert Pantry were filled with learning how to decorate sugar cookies with royal icing, alongside decorating cakes with buttercream. I spent a few years focusing exclusively on this and sharing those photos and videos with everyone so they could watch the creative process.
Decorated sugar cookies were my first creative dessert outlet, and cakes followed soon after. Tiered cakes prove to this day to be a challenge to me so I do favor the single layer cakes now. After a few years of decorating cookies and cakes I was looking for more of a challenge, and soon began to thoroughly read the dessert blogs of other recipe developers. I found the details of how they create recipes fascinating, and wanted to learn more. I began to experiment with my own sugar cookie recipes because that is where I felt most confident in, but within 2 years I wanted to do more.
My Journey Into Recipe Development
Recipe development is only about 3 years young for me, and I have gained a lot of knowledge in those years, but have much further to go. I absolutely love being able to create a recipe that caters to my own flavor palette, but more importantly I want to share recipes that others find easy to recreate and enjoy.
Since I began The Dessert Pantry as a creative and decorative dessert blog, I find myself still needing to be creative with the designs of the desserts I share. So you will find many of my recipes with a creative design (and possible tutorial) that you can recreate on your own if you'd like! My website is a combination of recipes and tutorials that are created specifically for those with some to no experience.
My Life Outside Of Baking
My family and I reside in Orange County, California. I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, and I am pretty sure I will live here (or close to it!) for years to come. My husband and I have been together for just over 22 years, and we have a 15 year old daughter and 5 year old son.
If I am not baking you can find me reading, watching anything Star Wars or Marvel, or playing Mario Kart or Mario Party with my son. This blog is my hobby so I do still work full time in the corporate world (bummer!).

Sadly not yet! I absolutely want to explore these options but I don't anticipate that happening until possibly 2024.
